wearing white to weddings

Over the past little while there's been a trend for bridesmaids and family members to wear white, beige, creme and eggshell to weddings.

I'll admit it can look really elegant in pics.

But when you have to ask which lovely lady is the bride - then there's a problem.

I remember going to a wedding where most of the sisters wore blue. Except for one - the one who was engaged - who wore an off-white poofy concoction.

At another wedding - where the sisters of the groom weren't too fond of the bride - those mean girls actually went to David's Bridal and bought cheap wedding gowns almost nicer than that of their brother's beloved.

I have a wedding next week of someone I used to be really close with - but now we're more like frenemies. Should I wear that cute BCBG number I've been eying - in white.... or stick to classic, basic, boring black?

BS"D First, I hope you have a great time at the wedding...Two, I think you should get a dress that looks nice but won't allow you to outshine the bride...you may be frenemies now, but you want to be the bigger person. And maybe in the future, you will be close again. So take the higher road while still looking like a million bucks! Have a good shabbos! ~ R

There are other colors than black and white...

Also, your blog won't open when you use Google Chrome. I thought it might just be on my computer, but I tried it when I was at my in-laws and it wasn't loading there either. (I went to Windows Internet Explorer to post this, in case you were wondering.)

I think it's really poor etiquette to wear white to a wedding, I would have been mad if someone did that to me. Beige is fine so long as you are not in the wedding party. IMO black is not an appropriate color to wear to a wedding either - it's not a funeral. Especially since it's a summer wedding, why not wear something with a little color?

How about wearing something in a different colour, and stand out from the crowd... something like that gorgeous fuschia colour your blog page is might be nice...

i when into a wedding for a few minutes late at night. i thought i came too late at first because i saw the כלה leaving. ended up it was her sister in a *very* light beige gown.

not that i'm one to dispense fashion advice, but why are jewish girls color blind? there is an entire color spectrum between black and white.

Don't wear white.
You're "above" that kind of thing (or you should be... frenemies or not...). It will only make YOU look bad.

I also have trouble in google chrome, though not always. It's a pain to comment - I usually have to open in a different browser, though today chrome was kind to me ;)

Same problem with chrome though it doesn't happen always, but when it does, it crashes all the other blogger blogs I have open.

What are frenemies?
