i've always wondered why Chassidish women don't drive.... I can't figure out the reason behind it! Anyone know? (wouldn't they save a lot of taxi money if they did drive? and how do they shop for groceries for 23 children if they aren't able to get to the store on their own?)

i think that they think that its not modest for a woman to drive a car. of course this poses a problem if they want to take a taxi. is it yichud if the taxi driver is a man? and if the driver is a woman , how is ok that she is driving? oh, i forgot, perhaps the lady taxi driver isnt jewish?
i've heard the 'tznius' excuse... but what's not tznius about it?
who has 23 children.the most I ever heard was 17 k'h poo poo poo, and the average is 8 k'h (no poo pooing here)
Women driving a car is ossur according to teshuvos reb shmuel wosner (see there his reasoning)and this acepted by the main heimishe kehillos in erets yisroel, both chasidish and non chasidish. The chiddush is that we DO drive in chuts learets...(if anyone can show me a teshuvah of a gadol of that level explaining why its muttar please post below or email - i'm all ears ) as for groceries ... there exists a concept of free deliveries at least in the uk. B. There is normaly no issur yichud if the road is well travelled and its by day . Speak to your local rabbi for the details.as for the cost... we spend on a mehudirdigge. Esrog, no? Yesod is called that for a reason!!!!
